Since 1925 the Danish National Symphony Orchestra has been the cultural flagship of DR, the Danish Broadcasting Corporation. With Maestro Fabio Luisi as its new Principal Conductor and a succession of prominent guest artists each season, the Danish National Symphony Orchestra is today among Europe’s leading symphony orchestras. With the position follows a Storione viola from 1775
The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate the following: Excellent and inspiring professional orchestral and solo playing ability.
Excellent skills in playing a wide range of musical styles.
Excellent skills in leading, inspiring and developing the section.
The ideal candidate will also need to demonstrate: Good interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and develop successful and productive working relationships with the section and a diverse range of people.
The ability to both lead and work collaboratively to inspire and contribute to performances that meet the highest musical standards, by providing artistic direction, and by motivating members of the section.

Pre- & 1st round:
Stamitz 1st Viola concerto, or Hoffmeister Viola concerto, 1st and 2nd Movement. Cadenza only in the 1st movement.
2nd round A:
Bartok or Walton Viola concertos, or Hindemith” Der Schwanendreher”, 1st Movement.
2nd round B:

The DR concert hall is designed by French architect Jean Nouvel with acoustics by Yasuhisa Toyota and has been rated one of the world’s best concert halls by ‘Gramophone’. Most of the orchestra’s concerts are broadcast on Danish Radio and to large regions of the world through the European Broadcasting Union.

The working schedule is based on 24 hours a week plus 15 hours individual preparation based on 42 weeks pr year. Normally rehearsals are held Monday till Friday with concerts twice a week. Domestic and international touring is also a contractual obligation.
The orchestra is located at DR Byen in a smoke-free indoor environment, with good practice – and work facilities and a subway station close by.
Annual salary: 444.400 – 537.600 DKK. Further to the salary is a 19 % pension and an extensive public health care system as well as instrument insurance
Employment is subject to confirmation of residence and work permit in Denmark.
