Aalborg Art School – Full time vacant position as ballet teacher in our ballet department

Do you want to train and educate the next generation of dancers for The Royal Danish Ballet?
Aalborg Art School is the largest Danish art School in the city of Aalborg, the number 3, largest city in Denmark and Ballet Talent Centre for The Ballet School of The Royal Danish Ballet.
Currently we have a vacant position as teacher in our ballet department. The position is available as soon as possible or at least January 1st, 2019. The job includes

  • Ballet teaching in our Talent Center under supervision from The Royal Danish Ballet
  • Ordinary ballet teaching
  • Coordination and managing different tasks at the Talent Center

As ballet teacher in Aalborg Art School you will be responsible for the weekly teaching and training of both our ordinary ballet pupils and the pupils attending our talent program. Totally about 100 children in the age from 6 years – 15 years. You will in cooperation with head of the Ballet Department be responsible for dialogue with children, parents and also plan and coordinate performances, examinations, trips etc. There will weekly be a professional pianist available in the class.

We have a continuously dialogue and cooperation with The Ballet School of The Royal Danish Ballet and therefore our teaching and syllabus will follow the curriculum of The Ballet School of The Royal Danish Ballet.

Aalborg art School is the largest Danish art school with more than 5.500 students in our 4 departments. Music, Theatre, Fine arts and Ballet. Aalborg Art School is Ballet Talent Centre for The Ballet School of The Royal Danish Ballet.
The Ballet teaching takes place in the central department of Aalborg Art School in our new ballet studio in Nordkraft, the cultural center of Aalborg.

Aalborg Art School collaborates with a great amount of professional institutions in the art and cultural fields, primary and secondary schools, Danish academies of music etc.
In the ballet department we also collaborates with other national Talent Centers under supervision of The Royal Danish Ballet.

For applicants for the vacant position we have the following expectations concerning formal education and competencies:

  • Professional ballet competencies from the professional classical ballet world
  • Experience and/or interest in the classical Bournonville tradition
  • Teaching skills in both basic, intermediate and advanced level
  • Ability and desire to be a part of Aalborg art School and collaborate in developing your field in Aalborg art School.

As part of the job interview applicants will have to demonstrate teaching abilities for our intermediate and advanced students in presence of teacher from The Ballet School of The Royal Danish Ballet. This part of the interview will therefore take place in Copenhagen at The Royal Danish Ballet in week 38, 2018.

The position ballet teacher is a full time position including teaching, preparation, coordination etc. –as described above.
The ballet teaching takes place in a 36 week term from August – June.
The different tasks in connection to the teaching (preparing, coordination and managing) will be flexible and according to further agreement.

The salary will follow the Danish relevant agreements for Arts Schools or individual agreement and will be about 380.000 dkr. pr year (about 51.000 Euros pr. Year)
That includes a fixed monthly salary, retirement payment and payed 6 weeks holiday.
